Anna Mary Kolhaas Gross was born October 28, 1839, in Cobbens, Germany and died January 24, 1916 at 1:30 a.m., aged 76 years 2 months and 27 days.
She had been failing in health for only one week, she bore her suffering patiently always being cheerful and never complaining.
She came to America in the year 1845, married in the year 1846 to John Gross and lived south of Harper the rest of her life. Eleven children were born to this union, five having preceded her in death. Mrs. Gross leaves to mourn their loss a husband and six children, Mrs. George Rudolph, Pocahontas, Ia., Mrs. Paul Peiffer, Harper, Ia., Mrs. Tayler Vaness, Ollie, Ia., and Joseph Gross, Clay County, Ia., Nick Gross, Sigourney, Ia., Henry Gross, Harper, Ia., who all were present.
Mrs. Gross a good true mother a faithful wife and kind neighbor. All her life a good true member of the Catholic church and was prepared for death. The remains were taken to the Catholic church a Solemn High Mass by Rev. Leudtke and Rev. Sendbuehler and Rev. Houser officiating. Burial at the Harper cemetery.
