Kenneth Howard Swartz, age 98 of Clifford Lake, Stanton, died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Green Acres Retirement Living in Greenville. He was born September 12, 1921 in Sidney, the son of Irving and Ethel (Ketchum) Swartz. Ken proudly served our country in the United States Army, serving in the European Theater, including at Normandy, during World War II. On June 26, 1948, he married the love of his life, Iva Mae. He was the owner and operator of Swartz Sales, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed music and dancing, and met Iva at a dance hall. Iva preceded Ken in death less than three months ago, on September 23, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Garold Swartz, Wynona "Toni" Kozak, Phyllis Huyck, and Jerry Swartz. He is survived by his children, Pamela Swartz of Stanton, Greg (Kathi) Swartz of Greenville, and Brenda Swartz of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jason Swartz of Greenville, Matthew (Sarah) Swartz of Stanton, Michael (Megan) Swartz of Seattle, and Christopher Zizos of Grand Rapids; great-grandson, Clark Swartz; sisters-in-law, Lory Lockwood, Cindy Dines, and Lela Jurden; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 27, 2019 at Hurst Funeral Home, with Dan Pflug, Spectrum Health Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Private interment will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Spectrum Health Hospice or Mid-Michigan Honor Flight.
