Elmer Smith, 70, of rural Pekin died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
He was born Aug. 15, 1907, in Goodfield, a son of Johnson and Lena Hall Smith. He married Clora L. Reinholdt March 14, 1932, in East St. Louis. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Byer, Pekin, and Carolyn Clift, Sparland; four brothers, Herman Smith, Vineland, N.J.; Ben Smith, Harley Smith, and Daniel Smith, all of Fonda, Iowa; and three sisters, Ruth Boock, Holstein, Iowa; Marjorie Murphy, Fonda, Iowa, and Sara Mertz, Varina, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
He was a manager of tower line crews for Commonwealth Edison Powerton station in Pekin, from 1940 to 1971.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
