John Milton was born May 29, 1929 in Jefferson County, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Glenda Joyce Bishop Erwin (1932-2011), his parents Fred William Erwin (1892-1970) and Myrtle Mae Cain Erwin (1894-1992) and brother Fred William Erwin Jr.(1917-1999).
John Milton is survived by his son John Milton “Butch” Erwin, Jr. (Teresa); 3 special grandchildren John Spencer, William Clinton and Julianne Brasfield (Chase); loving niece JoAnn Tatum, and a host of extended family and friends.
John Milton attended Jefferson High School and Gordon Military Academy where he was quarterback of their school football team. He served in the Army National Guard during 1951-52 and earned the rank of Sargent.
He coached Tarrant Little League Baseball for many years and enjoyed each and every minute. He served as a Tarrant City Council member thru the 1970’s where he was very involved and had many dear friends. He was retired from Southern Natural Gas or Sonat after 33 years.
A celebration of his life visitation will occur Friday, Dec 27th from 11am until 12 pm at Jefferson Memorial Trussville with funeral services at 12pm. He loved his family, his 3 dear grandchildren and his Alabama football. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed!
