Mrs. Gloria Phyliss Davidson Cooke, widow of Reverend Richard P. Cooke, of South Boston passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the age of 82.

She was born in Marie, WV on December 27, 1936 the daughter of the late James Davidson and the late Sarah Epperly Davidson.

Reverend and Mrs. Cooke were united in marriage on February 7, 1959 in Newport News, VA. A minister’s wife she supported him wholly in his ministry. A true caregiver since childhood, she raised her sister, daughter, and grandchildren, as well as provided care for her husband and countless others. Mrs. Cooke was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the W.M.U.

Mrs. Cooke is survived by her daughter, Gloria Cooke Crute (Leonard); grandson, Jeffrey “Adam” Pittman; granddaughter, Rachel Marie Pittman; great grandchild, Virginia Ann Sells; and Adam’s father, Dolan Jeffrey Pittman. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Emory Davidson, and sisters, Virginia Avery and Betty Summerford.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Aarons Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
