MERRIMACK- Arthur Curtis Bell, 77, of Daniel Webster Highway, died today in his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Olive (Wotton) Bell.
Mr. Bell was born in Haverhill, Mass., April 4, 1899, the son of Curtis L. and Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Bell. Before retirement he had been employed as a painter, and more recently, as custodian in the Merrimack school system. He was the former owner of the Lone Star Ranch and had been a member of the Merrimack Police Department. He and his wife would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this month.
He attended the First Congregational Church and during World War II he served with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Curtis Bell of Candia and Russell Bell of Manchester; two daughters, Mrs. Electa Pearson and Mrs. Marilyn Durocher, both of Merrimack; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Mr. Bell's name to the Merrimack Valley Home Health Service, Amherst Rd., Merrimack.
