Eugene Morris Dunkin, a Stamford resident, died Thursday, Feb. 7, at Stamford Hospital. He was 87. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born Feb. 17, 1914, in raton, N.M., he was the son of the late Gilbert Morris Dunkin and Goldie Ruth Dukeman. Mr. Dunkin went to primary and secondary school in Colorado and Kansas and attended Chicago Technical College. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard a submarine chaser. Earlier in his career, Mr. Dunkin worked in several supervisory positions for Northern Peru Mining Smelting Co. in South America. He later worked for the Redman Chevrolet of Stamford as a manager and salesman from 1953 to 1983. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Scared Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Darien.
