Bernice M. Schroeder, age 92, a resident of Kindred Hearts, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 21, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.


She was born on Aug. 1, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Rose (Sliwka). Bernice attended grammar school in Chicago and was a graduate of Manly High School. After graduation she attended Wilson College. Bernice began her employment with Montgomery Wards as a bookkeeper and also served as personnel manager and a custom relations secretary.


Survivors include one niece: Virginia (Julius) Cozzi, Cicero, Ill.; two grandnieces: Janet (Elio) Bon, Darien, Ill., Barbara (John) Natalie, Darien, Ill.; a grandnephew: Ernest (Elle) Cozzi, Palos Park, Ill.; and great-grandnieces and nephews: Krystina, Christopher, Darien, Ill., Jonathan Christopher, Darien, Ill., Cherisse Cozzi, Palos Park, Ill., and Ernie Cozzi, Palos Park, Ill. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by a grandniece: Rosemarie Christopher.


A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.


The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from noon, Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, until 1:15 p.m.
