Mrs. Barbara Ann Richardson, daughter of the late Johnny Carter and Elizabeth Davis Carter English was born on August 7, 1944 in Eutawville, SC.
She graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx in 1962. She then entered into the work force working for the New York Telephone Co. for several years. Later she gained employment with the United States Postal Service and stayed for over 25 years until her retirement from the Hillside post office, Bronx, NY, in 2001.
Barbara was united in Holy Matrimony to Fred Wallace Richardson, Jr. on June 18, 1966, in which they shared 36 years together until she departed. Born to this union were two sons.
She was raised as a faithful Jehovahs Witness. She had a deep concern for the welfare of others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all that knew her.
Surviving are: husband, Fred Wallace Richardson, Jr., of Scarsdale, NY; sons: Fred W. Richardson III of Scarsdale, NY, Travis E. Richardson of Yonkers, NY; stepdaughter Shelley Currie and son-in-law Bobby Currie of Apex, NC; daughter-in-law, Shee Morgan of Yonkers, NY and Janet Lares of Fishkill, NY; grandchildren, Fred W. IV, Justin L. Lamarra and Travay; stepfather, George English of Riverdale, NY; predeceased by her grandmother, Mary Davis of Eutawville, SC; sisters, Kim Davis Church of Peekskill, NY, Denise Williams of Atlanta, NY, Louise Mack of St. Matthews, SC; predeceased by a sister, Sallie Dash, brothers; Henry Johnson of Scarsdale, NY, Franklin Dash of St. Matthews, SC, David Dash of Jamison, SC; predeceased by two brothers, George and Sam Dash; brothers-in-law, Marvin Church, Bernie Williams, Jerry Mack; sisters-in-law, Brenda Johnson, Debbie Dash, Jennifer Dash, nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings on Hudson, NY. Calling hours for family and friends will be held Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at F. RUGGIERO & SONS, Inc., 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY.
