"Herman J. Eaton of 502 First Street North, Virginia, former mayor and city alderman of that community, died at the Virginia Municipal Hospital last Friday morning following a long illness.
Mr. Eaton was born in Michigan on March 27, 1892. He was the son of Virginia pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Eaton. His father, Mr. William Eaton, also served as mayor of Virginia, as a member of the charter commission and the school board.
Upon his graduation from high school in 1909 Herman Eaton joined his father in the operation of the Eaton Dray Line, and continued this business up to a few years ago, when the business was terminated.
Mr. Eaton always had taken an active interest in the civic life of his community."
