Anna Marie Kuhlmann nee Kraft was born May 12, 1885 at Deshler, Nebr., the daughter of August Kraft and his wife Emilie nee Achterberg. She was baptized into the Christian faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Kiowa, on May 24, 1885 by the Rev. John Meyer.

She was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Deshler on March 26, 1899 by the Rev. William Flach. For several years prior to her marriage and at times after, she stayed at the Lutheran parsonage at Chester where she helped Pastor and Mrs. Adolph Soldan.

On April 18, 1906 she was united in marriage to Friedrich Ferdinand Kuhlmann at St. Peter, Deshler, by the Rev. Wm. Cholcher. To this union were born four sons. Anna lived with her husband and family west of Chester until the spring of 1973 when she and her husband moved to Parkview Haven in Deshler. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church at Chester and a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society.

Anna died at Deshler following a short illness on Jan. 17, 1975 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 24 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her four sons: Wilbert and wife Elsie and Charles and wife Ella of Chester, Vernon and wife Wilma of Greeley, Colo., and Leonard of Chester; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Traugott of Ellinwood, Ks., Mrs. Ida Kuehnast of San Jose, Calif., and Miss Matilda Kraft of Campbell, Calif.; two brothers, Albert Kraft of Gilead and John Kraft of Deming, N.M.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 20, 1975 at St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, Pastor John Freitag officiating. Mrs. Arno Sell and Mrs. Wilbur Mussman sang, with Diane Dittbrenner the organist. Pallbearers were Karis Kuhlmann, Gene Kuhlmann, Paul Kuhlmann, Alvin Vorderstrasse, Orvil Heitmann and Harlan Graue. Interment was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery with Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
