Married to Harold Emery Bell, 1 Nov 1942, in California. They had two children, Warren R. 1943-2013 and Gerald R. 1948-2012. Ruby's remains were cremated.
Ruby was one of Kathryn E. (Cammock) Smith's, favorite cousins.
"My parents, Mike and Kathryn E. (Cammock) Smith, especially my mother really enjoyed visiting with the Bell’s, especially Gerald and Warren. My mother was really a great sport, lots of fun to be around. She was full of stories about their visits with the Bell’s. A couple of stories were when they placed a board in her pillow case, in which my mother being very gullible and trusting, laid back in bed and banged her head against the very “hard” pillow. Another episode involved her and my father going to bed with a “shorted” sheet. Of course it was Warren and Gerald that was the promoter of these pranks which got a great laugh from all, especially my mother, Kathryn". (As told by William "Mike" Smith)

"Ruby was a sweet and dear person. But she made sure her boys (Warren and Gerald) stayed in line. Sounds like your Kathryn has some great and funny memories of the Bell family.
Warren & Gerald & a friend, Dave, co/owned a security company in Livermore. Warren and Gerald actually ran the company out of their home (in the beginning). So there were always lots of people in and out of their house all the time. It never fazed Ruby, she always had a welcoming smile on her face.
I forgot what year it was, but the Bell family bought property in the hills outside of Livermore. Their plan was to build a home for the family and build it they did! With the help of family and friends, the house on Morgan Territory Road was built. Ruby was right in the thick of things, pounding nails, pouring cement, doing whatever she could to help. She was a hard worker. It became a beautiful home for them.
Saying she was a hard worker, reminds me, Ruby worked for Sandia National Laboratory, Livermore, as did my mom. Ruby once told me that it was my mom who actually hired her (I was shocked to hear that!). The Bell's had just moved up to Livermore from Bakersfield where Harold E. was starting a new job at The Rad Lab (now called Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory). So after Ruby told me about my mom hiring her at Sandia, I asked my mom about it. She told me that during the interview, she felt Ruby would be a great fit for the job. She said Ruby sounded very willing to learn new things and take on different jobs. Mom added, over the years at Sandia, Ruby was a very loyal and great worker. It was a very good fit.
After Harold E. died in 1979, Ruby seemed kind of lost. Her life partner was gone. In fact, at her retirement luncheon, Ruby asked Bill (my husband) and me to please sit next to her. That surprised me. Here she was surrounded by lots of her co-workers but she needed us to actually sit with her. I think she needed Bill to keep the mood happy and light like Harold always did.
That happened again when her grandson Ryan, Warren's child, died. At the memorial service, Ruby asked us to sit with her. Bill took her arm and we helped her get through it as best we could". (As told by Marty DuBoce, a high school classmate of Gerald's; 6 Jan 2020)
