Former Alturas resident Betty Lee Acord of Redding, California died December 23, 2019 in Redding.

Born Betty Lee Brown in Blaine, Ohio October 13, 1924, Betty was a Mt. Shasta High School alum. In 1943, she married Rex Martin and had son John in 1947. July 15, 1950, she was married to Alfred Acord and had son Allen in 1951.

They made Alturas their home for 22 years, while Betty was employed as secretary for a title company and insurance company in Alturas. She was involved with a women’s bowling league in both Alturas and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Betty enjoyed camping with her family at Lily Lake and Medicine Lake. She has been gone from Modoc for 45 years.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 2018.

Betty’s sons John Martin (Kathe) and Allen Acord (Darlene), three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren survive her.

Mt. Shasta Memorial Park was the chosen location for burial.
