Pacic, Vernice 12/12/1922 - 11/27/2017 Middleville, MI Born Vernice Jean Wilson on December 12, 1922 one of nine children of Walter Wilson and Emma (Woodard) Wilson in Comstock Michigan. Growing up during the depression, when her older siblings took jobs she cared for her younger sisters. She spoke fondly of helping her father search for worms and other types of bait to sell to area fishermen as a source of income to help the family. When she got older she worked the celery fields in summer, later leaving school for a job to help her family. Vernice married Frank Stevens in 1942 and had three children. She divorced in 1949 and re-married in 1950 to Frank Pacic having two more children. Working hard over the next thirty years ending with paper manufacturer Brown Co. & James River, she retired in 1980 to a cottage on her beloved Gun Lake spending summers traveling cross-country. Vernice's greatest love was her family. Teaching the values of life, family and enjoying the wonder of God's creation was natural for her. Her favorite sport was fishing, I remember the day she and dad returned to the shore after early morning fishing. She was jumping and squealing with joy because she had out fished the master by landing a northern pike while fishing with a cane pole. Mom saw to it that everyone did their share around the house. By the time you left home you could cook, sew, do laundry and budget so, you were able to survive on your own. Vernice was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband Frank, all of her siblings, Vince Vance, Vivian, Virginia, Violet, Velma (Beverly), Helen and Grace and daughter Kathleen Stevens Moskalik. Vernice is survived by sons Timothy Stevens (Teva), William Stevens (Helen), daughter Frances Pacic Heath, son Thomas Pacic, 32 grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. I know these last few years where difficult. No one should have to take that walk alone and I praise God for the opportunity to walk beside you. I only hope I made it a little more bearable. Vernice's ashes will be placed in a private ceremony by the immediate family. A remembrance to be scheduled at a future date. May your soul rest forever with God for a job well done. With love and gratitude, all your children. Michigan Cremation and Funeral Care http://www.mi-cremation.com/
