Mary Margaret Bissell was born to Dorothy Esther (Keesler) and John Michael Devereaux on February 6, 1920, in Adams County, Iowa. Mary entered eternal on July 8, 2006, at Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa, at the age of 86 years,

Mary worked as a housekeeper and nanny. She helped many families in the Corning area. On January 9, 1940, she married Kenneth Virgil Bissell in Corning, Iowa. After she married, Mary was a homemaker. Mary and Kenneth lived on a farm fifteen miles northwest of Corning. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Prescott. In 1944, they moved to a farm eight miles northwest of Creston.

Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents; Grandson: Nicholas Vest; Three Brothers: George, Ed, and John "Jake" Devereaux; Two Infant Sisters; and Sister: Lucretia "Tete" Bakerink.

Left to mourn Mary's passing are her husband: Kenneth Bissell, Creston; her children: Dick (Sue) Bissell, Creston; Jane (Butch) Miller, Lenox; Marcia (Bob) Vest, Ankeny; Three Grandsons: Brian Miller, Lenox; Matthew Bissell, Woodbury, MN; Christopher Vest, Ames, IA; Three Great-Grandchildren: Zachary, Morgan and Brooke Miller; brother: Carl "Buck" (Jean) Devereaux, Bloomfield, IA; sister: Carmelita Smith, Hot Springs, AR; Sister-in-Law: Dorothy Devereaux, Wichita, KS; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
