Lena Morris, 99, of Shawneetown, died 3:20 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, at Ridgway Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with Father Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at the funeral home with a prayer service 6 p.m.
She was born Sept. 8, 1907, in Union County, Ky., to the late George Edward and Katie Ethel (Goforth) Yackle. On Feb. 17, 1943, she married Owen Morris, who preceded her in death in 1973.
She worked as a cook for a barge company and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shawneetown.
She is survived by a sister, Rosie (Kenny) Vickery of Shawneetown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Masters and Minnie Belle Yackle; and four brothers, Earl, Ira "Top," William "Sye" Clifton and George Perry Yackle.
