Professor of Physics, Hewett earned his B.S. in Physics at Texas A&I (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville) in 1960. He earned his PhD. in Physics from the the University of Missouri at Rolla. Hewett joined the faculty of Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 1964.
Dr. Hewett was very active; he rode his bike around campus every day and enjoyed sailing. He also enjoyed hang gliding and was a certified hang gliding instructor well into his 70s.
