Pumroy Adams county lost a worthy pioneer, one who had spent nearly all of the eighty-eight years of her life in the county and who had live through nearly every phase of its history. She was greatly loved by the people who knew her in the early days as well as those who knew her in later years. Mrs. Pumroy had gone to Chicago with her daughter, Mrs. Ray Mitchell, and family about two months ago and was stricken with paralysis shortly after reaching the Mitchell home. There she was tenderly cared for until her death about a month later. The body was brought back to Corning for burial. Funeral services were held from the Christian church Friday, July 27, 1928, at 2:30 conducted by Rev. J. W. Taenxler. Interment was made in Walnut Grove cemetery.
