Mary Ellen (Holmes) Quance, 87, died December 21, 2006 at Wesley Acres. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at St. Augustin's Church with burial in Glendale Cemetery.
Mary Ellen was born in Des Moines, Iowa and lived most of her life here. She was a devoted wife and mother, a charter member of the St. Augustin's Mother's Club and a member of the Rosary Society. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, sewing and making ceramics.
She is survived by children, Carolyn J. Stuhlsatz of St. Louis, Missouri; David H. Quance of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Michael D. Quance of Des Moines; Christine L. Carlton of Des Moines; Mary Beth Byrnes of Grimes, Iowa; and Teresa A. Quance of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
She has 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Duane, who passed away June 16, 2004.
Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Dunn's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustin's Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
