Billie Joe Powell, age 77, of Clarksville, TN passed away on January 15, 2020 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born in Columbia, KY on November 26, 1942 to the late Harvey Stanley Murphy and Opal Beard Murphy. Billie proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and ranked as a SSGT. During his military career, he fought in the Vietnam War and also received a Bronze Star Medal. Succeeding active duty, Billie worked in the Civil Service at Fort Campbell for 22 years and retired. Apart from work, Billie enjoyed spending quality time with his family and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marion Lucille Powell; children: Billie J. Powell Jr. (Wanda) of Cunningham, TN, Lisa McGowen of Clarksville, TN, and Brittney Powell of Clarksville, TN; sisters: Carol Barrett of Atlanta, GA and Jean Coleman of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mr. Powell will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home Chapel. Darin Jensen and Tanner Shomin will officiate the service. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the funeral home from 4-7 P.M. Burial will follow immediately after service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
