Mr. Plase Warren Meets Horrible Death
On last Saturday, Mr. Pleas Warren, a farmer, who lived near Roopville, having started from his field where he had been plowing, mounted the mule with the plow gear still on him, sitting "sideways." A negro who was with him handed him some plows and a pine knot. These he was carrying before him on the mule, when he reached a small ditch, at which the mule shied, unbalancing him, so that he threw the plows and piece of pine over the mules head to get rid of them. This made the mule jump so that he was thrown from the back of the mule but in falling he became entangled in the plow gear causing the mule to become frightened so that he ran dragging Mr. Warren, a distance of nearly a quarter of a mile before he became dislodged from the gear. When rescued he was so badly bruised and cut up that he died in about three hours, never regaining consciousness. Mr. Warren was 45 years old and leaves a wife and two sons and a daughter, Mrs. Pitts of Mt. Zion. Mr. Warren lived on Roopville Route No. 2.He was buried Sunday afternoon at Bethesda church, Rev. Mr. Aderhold conducting the funeral exercises.
