Florence "Miss Flo" Verone Stallings, 91, a loving mother and grandmother and dearly loved by all of those she touched released her soul into the hands of her loving God on Saturday, June 11, 2011. She was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Bayou Sorrel. Love, laughter, happiness, courage, strength, tenacity, support and an abiding faith in God were the hallmark of her spirit. She loved her family, her children and her grandchildren - nothing was more important to her than their well-being. She was an avid LSU Tigers fan for more than 70 years, witnessing many milestones of her Fightin' Tigers. She was first and foremost a devoted mother, then an employee with the Louisiana Department of Revenue, where she developed the unclaimed property section and oversaw the administration of it until her retirement in 1984. Voted the Louisiana Department of Revenue Employee of the Year in 1980, she was known for her guidance and direction, mentoring and support by many. She was quick with a smile and to laugh - and always exhibiting a "can do" attitude. She is survived by her loving son and caregiver, Lee Van Randall, Jr.; two daughters, Amelia Beadle and husband Wade, and Melinda Stallings; beloved granddaughters, Jacquelyn Elisabeth and Rachael Marie Thompson; and devoted sister, Louise Elizabeth Dougherty and husband Emerson; and nieces and nephews. She was a member of Grand River United Methodist Church. She joyfully joins those who preceded her: parents, Leemand Dustin and Rosa P. Holland; brother, L. D. "Buck" Holland, Jr.; and sister, Myrtle Fisher. The family would like to especially thank Cynthia Wessinger, who lovingly provided care for Miss Flo. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, June 13, was from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Tuesday, June 14, from 10 am until service at noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
