Desert Sun Dec 14, 1959 Services to Be Held Tuesday John Powell, 71died at his home at 20$ Berne Drive at approximately 830 am., Friday, following an illness of two months. A native of Texas, Powell had been a California resident for 37 years, and. a resident of Palm Springs for 17 years. He operated his own business as a painting contractor. Powell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elsie Powell, and three brothers and two sisters. Surviving brothers are Norman Powell., Belton, Tex.: William Powell, Columbus. Tex.; and Albert Powell, Houston, Tex. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Aera McCulheon and Mrs. Bert Prather, both of Austin, Tex. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday in the Wiefels and Son chapel here.
