Theodore (Ted) Van Straten, 72, 603 S. Superior St., De Pere, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at his home.
He was born July 9, 1905, in the Town of De Pere and lived in this area all of his life.
Mr. Van Straten owned and operated the Van Straten Trucking Co. from 1924 until retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Abbot Pennings Council 3955 Knights of Columbus and the St. Muay Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife, the former Hildegarde Beining; one son, Donald, De Pere; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Dahlke, Allouez; Mrs. Bruce (Anne) Hock, De Pere; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Peter Van Straten, De Pere; one brother, Bernard, De Pere; six sisters, Sister Mary (Hilairia) Hilaire; Sister Mary (Josephine) Jositha; . Sister Mary (Charlotte) Louise; Sister Mary (Collette) Petronia; Sister Mary (Lillian) Conrad; Mrs. Sylvester (Victoria) Smet, De Pere; nieces and nephews.
His father, Peter Van Straten, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, after 2 p.m. Friday. Knights of Columbus prayer service 7 p.m. Friday. Parish prayer service 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, De Pere, with the Rev. John Vanderhorst officiating. Entombment in Allouez Mausoleum. A memorial fund to St. Mary Church has been established.
