Elmer L. Soule, age 98 formerly of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, PA. He was born January 26, 1921 in Sumner Township, Gratiot County, MI, the son of Carl R. and Daisy (White) Soule. Elmer was a veteran serving as a SGT in the US Army in WWII. He was married to Frances N. Van Allen Soule in Belding on June 30, 1948. He was employed for the former Gibson Refrigerator Company in the repair department and retired with 36 years of service. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #101, Greenville and he and his wife Fran were married over 55 years and enjoyed bowling in the mixed league in Greenville. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2004. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, Hazel Greenman, Ben Soule, Harold Soule, Margaret (Clark) Rasmussen, Betty Soule, Marian (Rod) Baxter, Dale Soule, Charles Soule; and an infant son. He is survived by daughters, Diane J. Ray of Zion Grove, Pennsylvania and Brenda (Lance) Dowker of Greenville, Michigan; his grandchildren, Daniel Jon Decker of Grand Rapids, Shannen Ray of Colorado, Gabby Dowker and great granddaughter Nadiah of East Lansing; sister-in-law, Roberta Soule of Gowen; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
