A Memorial Service will be held at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., on Friday, November 1st, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valley Baptist Church Building Fund. Funeral services by Hillcrest Memorial Park, no graveside services will be held.

Born in Ryder, North Dakota to a Norwegian immigrant, John Linus Arvidson and his wife, Virginia Estelle, Howard was the youngest of 9 children. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Bank of America in 1993 after 42 years of service, most recently as the area regional manager for the Bakersfield and Southern Sierra region.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bess; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lindsey and Bonnie Tullos of Arroyo Grande, Mark and Jan Garcia of Bakersfield, and Deborah Arvidson of Bakersfield; three grandchildren, Tracy McCarter of Visalia, Robert and Eric Garcia of Bakersfield; two sisters, Aimee Reid, Grace Arvidson; and one brother, Gordon Arvidson.

His love and devotion to his family was only surpassed by his love for the Lord, who has prepared a special place for Howard in Heaven.
