Pam was one of 4 children born to Ken & Lois Hopper. We all moved to 10946 S. Grovedale Dr.; Whittier, CA @ 1957. After that, we moved to 1140 Urell Dr.; La Habra, CA. When I was going into H.S. @ 1967, my parents got divorced. My dad took Pam & Jeff and moved to Atlanta, GA, then to Charlotte, N.C. At some point, my two siblings were put into an Orphanage called Barium Springs, in Barium Springs, N.C. My mother was unaware of it until Pam sent a pic of herself with that address and I researched it because we had been sending letters to my dad's address. When Pam turned 18 she came to CA to our house. Jeff had gone into the Air Force when he was 17. He came to CA too after he got out of the Air Force. Both my parents had remarried in Dec 1994.
Pam married (on 31 Oct ????) to Michael Frank Carpenter. They had one son, Joshua Jeremy Carpenter (B: 12-23-1978). Pam & Mike separated but never divorced. Pam ended up living with my ex-husband, Mark Douglas Thoma for the last 20+ yrs of her life. They lived in Running Springs, CA, until she went into the hospital on 27 Aug 2019. She was there for a month. They discovered she had Melanoma of the Brain & Spleen. They think it spread from when they removed a quarter size skin cancer off her right thigh, 4 yrs before. My brother Jeff & I brought her to Chino Valley, AZ to his house to take care of her on Hospice for the last two months of her life. She died with all of us there - My brother Jeff, myself, her best friend Kathy Thoma (Mark's 2nd wife) and their daughter Deanna Thoma & her boyfriend Ryan. Mark & Kathy's other daughter Kara had been back and forth helping us with Pam as well during the last 2 months. All of us were there to make her last days as good as we could for her and did a few things on her Bucket List before she had to leave us.
Mark was blind, so he was unable to handle her getting sick, so he choose not to see her or talk to her after she left the hospital. It was too overwhelming for him. His whole life was turned upside down and he had to be moved out of their home in the Mountains. He lost his brother Jeff Thoma, a month after Pam died on 5 Jan 2020.
Her son, Joshua & her husband Mike, were able to see her two weeks prior to our early Thanksgiving, before her death.
She was also able to speak to Jennifer THOMA Pierce (my sister in law - Mark's youngest sister) and her mom Delores "Dee" Thoma a few days before her death. She died the day after Thanksgiving on Friday - 29 Nov 2019 at 3:30pm
Anyone that would like a copy of her death certificate it is uploaded to ancestry on our family tree and if anyone wants a copy they can contact me and I will send them a photo of it.
