On July 25, 1949 Hazel married August Alexis. The couple moved to Arvin, Ca. where they farmed for many years. Hazel worked along side her husband planting, packing potatoes, picking cotton, and doing many other farm chores. In 1950 the couple had their first child, Donna, and in 1951 a son was born, Kenneth. In 1964 Hazel picked up a 3 day old foster child, Michael, and after a couple of years Michael become a member of the family when he was official adopted.
Hazel was a PTA president, 4-H Leader, a boy scout leader, and for many years a foster parent to many children needing a home.
In 1968, the family moved to Orland where after awhile Hazel went to work at Dole Nut. She worked there as a custodian eventually retiring after 25 years. The couple continued living in Capay where they raised sheep and cattle for many years.
Hazel is survived by her husband August, daughter Donna ( Dave), son Kenneth (Janet), 4 grandchildren, Rene Gray, Raymond Gray, Jared Alexis, and Joel Alexis, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, a son (Michael), and a granddaughter (Sara Gray).
A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellow Cemetery on Road P, January 31, 2020 at 10am.
