Mrs. Bloomer a life-long resident of Keithsburg, passed away at her home Thursday, March 4, 1954, following two year's illness.
Bessie Burgett Bloomer, daughter of Frederick P. and Mary J. Burgett, was born Sept. 21, 1873. She attended Keithsburg schools and was graduated from high school June 3, 1892.
On Sept. 23, 1903, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Bloomer in the Burgett home, the ceremony was performed by Mr. Bloomer's brother, Rev. Henry Bloomer.
There was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bloomer, one son, Frederick, who reached his parents' home each week. His work is in Rock Island. There are two grandchildren, Richard Bloomer of Viola, employed in Davenport, and Shirley, physical education director in the Fulton school system, and a great-grandson, James Richard Bloomer.
Of her parents' family, two sisters remain. Mrs. Grace Hurff of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Kate Smith of San Anzelmo, Calif. A brother, Louis Burgett passed away many years ago. There are also a number of nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Bloomer was a member of the P.E.O. organization and took great interest in the activities. She possessed many admiral qualities, being a real homemaker where friends were always welcome. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
