Barbara (Trochlell) Panosh, 84, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, passed away on January 25th, 2020 at her home.

Barb was born on May 29th, 1935, daughter of the late Mildred and Anton Trochlell. She grew up and attended schools in Manitowoc, including Rapids Graded School, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. After college, Barb held several positions in community service, including working for many years for the Girl Scout Council. She also worked at the Manitowoc Senior Center and in admissions at Holy Family Hospital.

She was married to Orville T. Panosh on June 1st, 1963 at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. They enjoyed being snowbirds in Arizona and spending their summers at Schisel's Lake prior to Orv's death in 1993.

Barb was actively involved in giving back to her community by volunteering countless hours for the Rahr West Museum, Manitowoc County Historical Society, Meals on Wheels, the Safety Patrol picnic, Friends of the Branch River and PEO.

Barb enjoyed many activities, including bowling, golfing, swimming, fishing, camping, biking, and cross-country skiing. She had an adventurous spirit, which led to her many travels around the world, including hiking the Grand Canyon, cruising in Alaska, and canoeing in the boundary waters. She was a Girl Scout at heart and loved anything to do with the great outdoors and nature, which she instilled in her daughters and grandchildren. She also enjoyed numerous camping trips with family and friends.

She had a passion for cooking and entertaining, playing cards and board games, searching for treasures at estate sales, and nurturing meaningful relationships.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sheila and Tim Smiley, Slinger; Jodi and Jerry Linsmeier, Cato; five grandchildren, Derek, Theresa, and Brian Smiley and Jesse and Jackson Linsmeier, and one sister-in-law, Lisa Trochlell of Florida. She also leaves behind her beloved dog and constant companion, Lexie. Barb was preceded in death by her husband Orville and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer and Rev.
