My mother Leona was 4th child born to Alexander Hamilton Willingham, (1888 - 1968) and Katie Lou Jackson Willingham (1894-1980).

Leona had artistic talents and could sketch and paint with oils, acrylics and even water colors. Like her sisters, Leona could sing. She played the piano, and loved to dance. In fact, Leona worked for five years for the Arthur Murray Dance studios before deciding to open her own modest dance studio where she taught ballroom dance. Leona also loved animals and usually had a pet of one kind or another.

Leona enjoyed poetry and could recite her favorites, one of which was The Barefoot Boy by Whittier. Most of all, she loved music.

Leona was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Phillip G. Willingham and Alexander H. Willingham, Jr., her sisters Thelma L. Willingham Holder Egner, and Katrina Raye Willingham Esgro Wilson; and a great-grandson. She was survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
