Carolyn was born in Walla Walla on March 20, 1925 to Ambrose and Angela Bertolli Pinza. She married Robert Goodwin on February 17, 1946. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society. She worked at Birds Eye Cannery and helped her parents and other family members in their truck farms raising Walla Walla Sweet onions and other vegetables. She was talented in sewing, making clothes for her children, and in later years, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, helping to make quilts.
Carolyn loved children and her home was always filled with them, playing and having fun. She also helped for many years caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she made special cards for them for birthdays and holidays, which they treasured.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Bob) Bennett and Christine Stewart; son Paul (Linda) Michael Goodwin; and grandchildren, Kendra Bennett; Shelley Coster; Bryce, Bryan and Amy Goodwin; Stacey, Ryan Nicole and C.J. Stewart; Travis, Heather and Jennifer Goodwin; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Ron, Marianne, Lisa and Doug Cech.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; son Gary Goodwin; brother, Frank Pinza; and sisters, Mary Locati, Josephine Zaro, and Johanna (Jonnie) Locati.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 2:00 – 7:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church or Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
