Lois Gerstman, 76, of Redwood Falls died, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday morning, December 28, from St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Clements. The Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Redwood Falls handled the arrangements.

Lois Fay Gerstman, the daughter of Charles and Theresa (Bierl) Berberich, was born June 28, 1928 in Clements. She grew up in Clements and Morton, receiving her education in Morton.

On November 18, 1950, Lois married Frank "Bud" Gerstman in Clements. They moved to Mobridge, S.D. in 1955 where she was a homemaker. In the 1960s she worked at a fabric store and in 1968 she purchased that fabric store. In 1975, they moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Lois did cake decorating and candy making. Bud died on March 31, 1981 and, in the fall of 1984, Lois moved to Redwood Falls. Here she opened and ran Lois' Café from 1984 until 1994. She was later employed as a waitress for FaChoy until retiring in 2002.

Lois was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church where she worked on several committees, especially those involving food. Her interests included baking, candy making, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family.

Lois is survived by her children Barbara Moser and husband Harley of Selby, S.D., Lou Gerstman and wife Denise of Beresford, S.D., and Chad Gerstman and wife Jennifer of Waldorf, Md. Also surviving are her grandchildren Justin Moser, Molly Moser, Stacy Gerstman, Cody Nielsen, Justin Nielsen, Abigail Fay Gerstman, Elizabeth Gerstman, and one on the way; a great-grandson Gavin; brother Leonard G. Berberick and wife Georgianne of New Ulm; and a sister Lorraine Greenslit of Miles City, Mont.

Besides her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers Jerome, Clarence "Butch," and Charles "Chuck;" and sisters Henrietta, Marie, and Delores on December 11, 2004.
