Born Wilhelm Friedrich Aughust Peper, but went by August.
Obit: August Peper, aged 92 years less 20 days, who has been a resident of the town of Morrison for the past 26 years, better known here as Grandpa Peper, died at the home of his son, Herman, last Monday evening, Feb. 2, after an illness of about four weeks. He endured great hardship during his long life but always being able to be around until about four weeks ago when he was taken sick with a heavy cold. His death was due to asthma from which he had been suffering for many years, and also old age. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Evangelical church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. C. Schleuter officiating with the Rev. H. Bernhardt of Appleton assisting. The pallbearers were Wm. C. Nohr, Henry Nohr, Wm. F. Nohr, Philip Kriehn, Henry Fischer and Irene Nohr. Deceased was born February 22, 1833, in Knurbush, (Cammin) Province of Pommern, Germany. In 18(60) he was united in marriage to Fredrecka Engelbrecht, which marriage was blessed with two sons and three daughters, one daughter and his wife preceding the father in death. In 1866 he emigrated to America, landing in Cooperstown, Manitowoc county, where he made his home on a farm until 26 years ago when he made his home with his son Herman, here in Lark, up to the time of his death. While staying at the latter's home he came in close touch with many a friend and was well liked by all, always having a kind word for everybody. He leaves to mourn his departure two sons, namely, Gust of Green Bay, Herman of Lark, and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Kuester of Green Bay and Mrs. Teresa Knuth of Cooperstown, also by 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren besides a large number of relatives and friends. The large attendance at the funeral showed the high esteem in which deceased was held.
