Mr. Gary L. Seiss, 67 of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
He was the loving husband and best friend of Faye Strayer Seiss, his wife of 48 years.
Born August 11, 1946 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of Francis L. Seiss and the late Betty K. Black Seiss.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Stacey Seiss and companion Kevin Gebhart of Thurmont and Troy Seiss and wife Dana of Phoenix, AZ. His grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Andrew and Giovanni and Carmela Seiss. Brothers, Allen (Bub) Seiss and wife Joyce and David Seiss and wife Brenda, both of Thurmont and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary served in the Army Reserves out of High School. Upon his discharge he returned to Thurmont and started Seiss Construction Company, Inc. and operated Towne House Realty, where he worked in construction and real estate for the majority of his years. He became well known and respected within the community and made so many friends along the way they are simply to many to mention.
For those that knew him, they knew he loved his family above all else. He made friends easily and had a number of close friends that will miss him dearly. After his family and friends, Gary loved to fish. Any opportunity he had to white marlin fish in Ocean City, Florida or Costa Rica, he was there.
Gary was an active member of the Thurmont Amvets, American Legion and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.
Family will receive friends on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 12-1pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD. A memorial service will be held immediately thereafter at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Weller United Methodist Church in Thurmont, MD or to a charity of one's choice.
