Mrs. Ann Hartlage Anders, 24, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William J. Hartlage, 5833 Gallia St., Sciotoville, was found dead in the basement of the Hartlage home today.

Dr. James F. Scott, Scioto County coroner, ruled that death occurred by hanging about 6 a.m. The coroner and Detective William Huels were called to the home at 6:40.

Mrs. Anders was a second grade teacher at Harding School in Sciotoville. She was born on Dec. 10, 1937, a daughter of William Jr. and Kathryn Doerr Hartlage.

Surviving besides the parents are two sons, Michael, 5, and John, 3; five sisters, Mrs. Patricia Stanley, 2343 Elmwood Dr., Miss Kay Hartlage, a student at Ohio State University, and Judy, Jane, and Joan at home, and the paternal granparents Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Hartlage of Sciotoville Rt.4.

Mrs. Anders was graduated from East High School in 1955 and attended Ohio University at Athens and the OU Portsmouth Branch. She received a degree in education from OU.

She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Wheelersburg. Funeral services are to be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church with Rev. Edmond McCormick officiating. Burial is to be made in Memorial Burial Park under direction of Gill Funeral Home.

Recitation of the Rosary is to be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday, where friends may call after noon Thursday.
