Boatswain Mate 1/c James L. Locklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Locklin, Thorndale. Entered Navy in 1942, trained in San Diego, Cal. Served in SW Pacific, New Georgia, Saipan, Guam, Tinian and Philippine Islands. Awarded A-P (Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal), American Defense, Philippine Liberation and Good Conduct Ribbon, 3 Battle Stars. Discharged in 1945.

James Lee married, 12 Nov 1950 in Freer, Duvall Co., TX, Henrietta Marie "Henri" Benad, a daughter of Gustav D "Gus" Benad Jr and "Edith" Myrtle Herring.
Father of James Scott, David Burke, Jay Francis and Sarah Janell Locklin.
Grandson of Samuel Griffith Locklin & Sarah Frances Large and Rev Dowen Sibley Burke & Cora Louise Page.

James Lee Locklin
James Lee Locklin, 64, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1986 in Scott & White Hospital, Temple, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Theodore Francis and Eva Burke Locklin, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Thorndale, Masonic Lodge No. 978 of Thorndale, Post Oak Island Lodge No. 181 of Beaukiss, and the VFW of Thorndale. He was also a Navy veteran of WWII.
Services were held Friday in Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor with the Rev. Jim Turnage of Bremond, officiating. Burial was in Locklin Cemetery with members of the Masonic lodges conducting the grave side rites and acting as pallbearers.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Sarah) Taylor of Thorndale, three sons, James Scott Locklin and Jay Francis Locklin both of Thorndale and David Burke Locklin of Delta, Utah; one sister, Mrs. Edna Byrer of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one brother, Francis Burke Locklin of Lakewood, Colorado, and six grandchildren.
