Everett Robert Moffitt, 99, of Coleridge, died Thursday, February 6, 2020 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral Services, 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Maple Springs United Methodist Church, Ramseur.
Officiating, Rev. Sam Harris, Rev. Ron Wachs, Rev. Ed Carter.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Everett was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, a veteran of the United States Army, retired from Ramtex, and enjoyed part-time jobs until he was 93 years old. As music was a big part of his life, he was a self taught musician learning to play the fiddle and the doghouse bass. He also enjoyed singing and was known for his rich bass voice. Everett loved to perform bluegrass music on the radio with the Hillbilly Pals Band, of which he was the last surviving member. Later he joined the Maple Springs Strings Band, and the Richland Partners Band. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Minnie Craven Moffitt.
Survivors: wife of 72 years, Ruby Coward Moffitt, of the home, son, Neal Moffitt, of Coleridge, grandchildren, Jessica Moore, and husband, Scott, of Coleridge, E. Lee Moffitt, of Coleridge, Cassie Coco, and husband, Jeremy, of Staley, great-grandchildren, Everett Coco, Asher Coco.
Visitation, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, Maple Springs United Methodist Church, Ramseur.
