Frances T. (Maderia) Medeiros 83, of Stonington, beloved wife of the late Manuel S. Medeiros passed away peacefully July 27, 2007 surrounded by her family at home. Born in Stonington, CT January 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary Josephine (Costa) Maderia and lived in Stonington all of her life. She married Manuel Feb. 25, 1947 in Mystic and they renewed their vows in Saint Mary's Church, Stonington in October of 1985. She was formerly employed with the Connecticut Cabinet Company and most recently with Plax from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary Church, Stonington. Frances was most known in the community for her Portuguese Sweet Bread and her faithful commitment to the Blessing of the Fleet each and every year. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and her BONCOS group. She leaves her son, Timothy Medeiros and his wife, Susan, of Pawcatuck; her two daughters Marjorie Boozam and Brenda Watson both of Westerly, RI, a step-daughter, Theresa Duque of CA and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Medeiros of Montville; a brother, Manuel Maderia of Stonington; two sisters, Irene Andre of Mystic and Elizabeth Goodman of AZ; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Joseph Madeira, a sister Dorothy Faillace, and a step-son, William Medeiros.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday July 31 at 9:15 AM from the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1, Mystic followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at Saint Mary Church, Stonington. Burial will follow at Stonington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Blessing of the Fleet, C/O Saint Mary Church, 95 Main Street, Stonington, CT 06378.
