Cause of death: Myocarditis
Parent is Sherrill
----------
"The final resting place of the remains of Vice President Sherman is the beautiful Babcock-Moore mausoleum at Forest Hill cemetery, which has been completed only recently. It is conceded to be one of the finest places of that style of architecture in this vicinity. The late Mrs. Ellen Sherrill Babcock, mother-in-law of the Vice President and her daughter, Mrs. Moore, while traveling abroad, saw a mausoleum which impressed them and from their description this one was planned and completed. It is of Harere granite and consists of a main part or vestibule and two wings, each containing two crypts. Mrs. Babcock died last December and her remains, which have been in the Childs chapel since that time awaiting the completion of the mausoleum, were transferred to their final resting place on Monday, October 7. The front of the crypt in which her remains were placed is inscribed:
Ellen Catharine Sherrill,
Wife of
Lewis H. Babcock and daughter of
Col. Eliakim and Emily Eldredge
Sherrill.
Born at Coxsackie, N. Y., Nov. 18, 1839.
Died at Whitesboro, N. Y., Dec. 4, 1911.
The structure was built and placed by Jenny A. Neibach, the monument dealers of this city."
