She was the daughter of David McAllister Smith, born in Hartland, Vt., May 29, 1809; died in Springfield, Vt., Nov. 1, 1881; son of Samuel and Margaret Smith. He was a very ingenious mechanic, having few equals in the ability to make and repair very fine and complicated machines.

He married, for his second wife, Sarah G. Burr. They had five children.

First was Rosalie Hemenway, born in Gilsum, N.H. Feb. 15, 1832; she married 1st, Dec. 24, 1851 at Springfield, Vt. a Mr. John A. Burta Mr. Burt, by whom she had two sons, John and James.

She married 2d, Sept. 24, 1861, Col. Robert Wilson of Keene, upon his fiftieth birthday. He was born in Peterborough, N.H., Sept. 24, 1811; died in Keene, Apr. 8, 1870; son of Hon. James, Sr., and Elizabeth (Little) Wilson. He prepared for college at Phillips Exeter Academy, and graduated at Amherst in 1832. He was a remarkably well-informed man, and a unique character in Keene. He was an ideal sportsman. It was principally due to his influence that Keene established the original Goose Pond system of water works. His father, Hon. James Wilson, Sr., was a member of the 11th Congress of the U. S. His brother, Gen. James Wilson, Jr., was a member of the 30th and 31st Congresses of the U. S.

She married 3d, Charles Frederick Webster, Esq., a lawyer of Keene, born in Fitzwilliam, N.H. July 20, 1834; died in Keene, Jan. 25, 1900; son of Charles C., Esq., and LaVernie (Clark) Webster, by whom she had a daughter, LaVernie Clark Webster, born in Keene, Dec. 31, 1874.
