Lina Spalding, 69 VISTA -- Lina Spalding passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011. She was born October 13, 1941 in Granite City, Ill., daughter of Herbert and Jessie Eads. She lived in the Tri-City area since 1955. Lina received a B.A. at San Diego State University. She was a school teacher in Oceanside School District for 32 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association, and the Carlsbad Community Church. Lina loved playing cards and making crafts for her family. Lina and her husband, Jimmie, were married for 49 1/2 years. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie Spalding; her daughter, Dr. Leah Spalding; and Lina's two brothers, Buryl and James Eads. Services were held at Carlsbad Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Assoc.
