Alton Erickstad, 86, Devils Lake, formerly of Starkweather, N.D., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, in Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Alton Erickstad was born Nov. 15, 1911, the son of John and Anna (Myklebust) Erickstad, in Sullivan Township, Ramsey County, N.D. He graduated from high school in Starkweather, in 1930. He graduated in 1935, from North Dakota State University, with a degree in agricultural education. He taught farm shop and vocational agriculture in Velva, N.D. He worked with the Federal Farm Security Agency from 1937 to 1939. He attended Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo. He taught vocational agriculture in Larimore, N.D. He returned to Starkweather to help on the family farm. He later commenced farming on his own until 1980. From 1980 to 1995, he assisted his brother, Lloyd, in farming. In 1995, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
He is survived by brothers, Lloyd, Starkweather, and Ralph, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and before services in the church.
Burial: Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Cemetery.
