Donald James Irvin Sr., 69, New Bloomfield, died Dec. 21, 2002, at his home.

He was born Sept. 1933, in Apex, a son of Samuel L. and Laura Edna Francis Hardin Irvin. He was married Oct. 20, 1989, to Sharon Ella Powell, who survives at the home.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church in Elsberry. He was a member of VFW in Fulton and New Bloomfield. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include: two sons, Donald James Irvin Jr., Harvey, La., and Troy Powell, St. Louis; four daughters, Susan Denise Kinsely, Columbia, Barbara Wurtz, Foley, Christine Irvin-Fullington, Fulton, and Jane Ellen Busby, Williamsburg; four brothers, Robert Irvin, Louisiana, Norman Irvin, Jonesboro, Delmar Irvin, Macon, and Albert Irvin, Barry, Ill.; four sisters, Doris Silvey, Louisiana, Edna Francis Harvey, Quincy, Ill., Velma McCormick, Rock Springs, Wyo., and Alice Dawson, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. The Rev. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.
