Dana J. Sisel, age 89, of 2350 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday evening, Aug. 17, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Dana was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Kewaunee County, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Opitchka) Sisel. On June 9, 1945, he married Laverne Schweiner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pilsen. Dana retired from Mirro Aluminum Co. after 33 years, he was also the janitor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, and worked at Twin River Improvements. He enjoyed his small orchard and gardening, fishing, hunting and camping. Dana was lifetime member of the Manitowoc County Men's Garden Club and Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
Survivors include his wife: LaVerne Sisel, Manitowoc; their children: Roger Sisel, Manitowoc, Mary Ann (John) Rabitz, Mishicot, Marge (Rod) Henrickson, Two Rivers, Gerard (Carol) Sisel, Manitowoc, Michael Sisel, Tennessee, John (Teresa) Sisel, Two Rivers and Robert Sisel, Two Rivers; e leven grandchildren: Erica Ploeckleman, Amanda Sisel, Charles, Don and Jen Rabitz, Paul and Mark Henrickson, Carrie and Jarrod Sisel, James Sisel and Joshua Sisel; and seven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harvey and Elmer Sisel.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Viertel with entombment in Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall on Friday afternoon from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass at 6 p.m. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the Sisel family with funeral arrangements.
Dana's family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jordan and nurse, Claire Jordan, Nan Oswald and the staffs at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for the compassion and care shown to Dana and his family.
