Funeral Services for Roy Miller, age 89, of Chambers will be 10:30 am Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Chambers.

Burial will be in the Chambers Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Chambers American Legion Post 320.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday, May 11, 2018 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill with a 7 pm Prayer Service.

Roy passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at O’Neill Care and Rehab Center in O’Neill.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Frank Miller was born on September 2, 1928 in Douglas, Wyoming to Albert and Flossie (Holcomb) Miller. His family moved to Chambers, Nebraska in 1933. Roy graduated from Chambers High School in 1947.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served as an air plane mechanic. Basic Training started at San Antonio, Texas, with mechanic training at Wichita Falls, Texas. After training he was stationed at Rapid City, South Dakota. Roy married Carol Brennan on August 20, 1952 in Rapid City. Roy was Honorably Discharged as a Technical Sergeant in 1954 and the couple moved to Chambers.

Roy and Carol farmed, raised, and milked dairy cattle until 1968. Roy purchased Taylor Motor Company, renaming it, Miller Motor Company, in Chambers were his mechanic skills served the community until he retired in 2002.
Roy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chambers, and the Chambers American Legion Post 320. His retirement included huge garden with plenty of strawberry’s, an orchard full of cherry, peaches, grapes, apples, apricots, and of course, walnuts. Roy loved spending time with his children.

Roy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Miller of Chambers; three children, Coni Johnson and husband, Larry, of O’Neill, Thomas Miller of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Susan Wagner, and husband, Lee, of Grand Island; daughter-in-law, Sharleen Miller, of Chambers; 11 grandchildren, Crystal (Brian) Hopf, Amber Fairbrother, Clark (Shannon) Miller, Brett (Dana) Miller, Jordyn Johnson, Jean (Adam) Kurtz, Joan (Joshua) Day, Cari Johnson, Mackenzie Miller, Geri (Jesse) Kaufman, Hollen (Dustin) Thibeault; 12 great grandchildren; nephew, Duane (Mary Lee) Sammons of Boise, ID; and niece, Rochell (John) Jenkins of Evanston, WY.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Miller in 2015; granddaughter, Lisa Bryant, in 2002; and sister Alice Anderton.
