MRS. FRANK ST. CLAIR DIED IN GERMANY; ASHES BROUGHT HERE
The ashes of Mrs. Frank St. Clair, mother of Fern Andra, were scattered on Iroquois River last Saturday, Sept. 17 by Ann and Earl Lyons of Sheldon, cousins, Baroness Fern, noted movie star of three continents.
Mrs. St. Clair, 85, died Aug. 4 in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she was with her daughter and her husband, Gen. Sam Dockrell. Her body was cremated in Mainz, Germany and the ashes flown from Frankfort to Chicago and thence to Sheldon.
Sadie St. Clair was from a pioneer Iroquois County family, the daughter of John and Eleanor Sapp. Her grandmother was the first white child born in this county, and Baroness Andra is most proud of this heritage, even with all the honors that have come her way in the theatrical world.
Mrs. St. Clair traveled over the world with her daughter and crossed the Atlantic 40 times, but her heart was always filled with thoughts of her home in Watseka.
Baroness Fern Andra is in the middle of directing a film in Germany and was unable to bring the ashes to Watseka, but she expressed deep satisfaction that her cousins would so kindly do this final thing for her mother.
