Jane S. Schnellbacher, 89, Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2020.

Jane was born October 2, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Martin and Alma Neubauer Schneider. She graduated from Mount Notre Dame Academy and attended Our Lady of Cincinnati College.

Jane and John R. “Bob” Jung were married in 1951. To that union four children were born, Steven, Diane, Mary and Ken. They later divorced. On November 30, 1991, Jane and Otto Schnellbacher were united in marriage; he preceded her in death in 2008.

Jane was a highly accomplished businesswoman. She had a 21-year career with Capital City Bank serving in several capacities including vice-president. Governors Joan Finney and Kathleen Sebelius appointed Jane to the Commission on Housing and Homelessness and the Kansas Banking Board.

Jane’s involvement in the community spanned many years and spotlighted her varied interests. She served on the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Sales and Marketing Executives of Topeka, Shawnee County Economic Advisory Council, the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority, Washburn University Women’s Seminars, Concerned Citizens for Topeka, and Jayhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Jane was past president of Career Chapter, American Business Women, a charter member of Golden City Forum, member of the YWCA Board of Directors, Topeka Catholic Social Service, Let’s Help, and Catholics for Renewal.

Jane was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was one of the original Eucharistic Ministers and served as moderator on the Pastoral Council. She had a sparkling personality, was warm and welcoming, cared deeply and loved generously. Jane was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include Jane’s children, Steve, Diane (Mike), Mary (Joe) and Ken (Barb); ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Thursday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where visitation will follow until 6:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
