Her birth name was Arousiag but often went by Rose after coming to the United States. She left her home of Kayseri, Turkey in the Ottoman Empire with her new husband Armenak Tashjian, along with her mother and two sisters. According to the manifest, their last residence had been the town of Mersin on the Mediterranean, from where they must have sailed to Europe. After arriving in Marseille, France, Rose gave birth to a son Hagop (Jacob). They sailed from Boulogne to New York on the ship Rotterdam when he was just ten days old, called on the ship manifest by the diminutive Hagopik. Upon reaching the United States, they joined Rose's sister Guluzar at 1240 Vine Street in Philadelphia. Unfortunately Hagopik died the following year of convulsions at 11 months. Around 1905 Rose had another son who was named Hagop (Jacob) as well. Rose had a son Puzant in 1907 but unfortunately he died young in 1909. In the 1910 census though Armenag is listed as married he is living alone, and Rose is living a few blocks away with her mother and sister's family. In the next census Armenag is listed as divorced. In 1919 Rose marries widower Setrak Boyajian, noting it was her second marriage but that her husband had died in Philadelphia "about ten years ago". At that time Rose was listed as a nurse. Setrak died a few years later and Rose married Albert W. Goodwin, moving with him to New Jersey where she died.
