Carrie Bell Crawford was born June 12, 1863, while her father Calvin Crawford, was fighting with the Union forces in the Civil War. Left fatherless at an early age, she became the bride of Jeremiah Murney at fifteen.

"Mrs. Carrie Murney died Sunday night in the Seneca Nursing Home. She was eighty-four years of age and the widow of the late Jeremiah Murney, for many years an employee in the Nugent Hardware Store. Mrs. Murney had been in ill health for a long time. She was born in Illinois, but moved east at an early age and had lived in Waterloo most of her life. She leaves a son, Louis Murney, and a daughter, Mrs George Fegley, both of Waterloo. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the home and in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. George McCall conducting the ceremonies. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery." (April 30, 1946, The Waterloo Observer, NY)
